Tapuika Iwi Authority and Te Kapu o Waitaha are pleased in joining with Mātai Pacific to provide sustainable employment opportunities for our people.

Mātai Pacific aim to create meaningful career pathways and long-term opportunities for iwi whānau through structured cadetships developed in partnership with our post-harvest providers. By fostering strong, collaborative relationships between iwi, Matai Pacific, and our post-harvest partners, we can support whānau into sustainable employment.

The principles that underpin the programme include.

• Whanaungatanga – strong relationships and collaboration with Iwi, Matai Paci@ic & Post harvest partners.

• Manaakitanga – care, respect, and support for candidates.

• Kaitiakitanga – sustainable pathways and stewardship of people and places.

• Rangatiratanga – empowering self-determination and career progression in the horticulture sector.

• Kotahitanga – working in unity to align aspirations, strengthen relationships, and support shared success across all parties.

The Role

The Whānau Navigator will seek to support improved attendance, engagement, and long-term retention of ākonga through whānau-centred approaches. The role focuses on identifying and addressing barriers to attendance, strengthening cultural identity and belonging, and embedding shared accountability between Tapuika, Waitaha and Te Puke High School. The role works alongside ākonga, whānau, school staff, and iwi to create mana-enhancing pathways that enable rangatahi to thrive at school and beyond.
